WOW- It's been a long time!!!
Life has been a little bit CRAZY the last 7-8 months! With relocating and both my husband and I getting new jobs. I have found plenty of time to read though! :-)
I've absolutely have read more books this year so far than I did half the year last year. There are so many that I've read but here are a few that I highly recommend:

I'M FINISHED!!!!
Well I finished my challenge with two months to spare! How awesome! Not only that now it gives me two months to read 10 books and get to my goal of reading 100 books this year!
I do have to say that this was something definitely worth the time. It opened up a lot of different worlds to me. There's books that I never would have read on my own, without being "forced" to. At the same time, there are many books that I didn't enjoy. Now, I just no to avoid those authors.. I can't say it was easy though. A few times, I would be stuck in a really boring book or wouldn't want to read a book on my list and wonder, should i give up? But then my lovely husband would say, how would that make you feel though? Then i would just keep on going. I'm so grateful for him because not only did he help me get through it, he would also help me by reading a book first or reading a book with me. This happened twice. Both of them were books that freaked me out because they were pretty dark. By the way, they are on my "avoid author" mental list.
Now, I decided to write a little bit about each book, just to keep track of how long it took me and whether I liked it or not. The time to read was just a general time frame. For example, day 1 was when i started the book and day 3 was the day i finished it on. Whether i read for an hour on each day, a few hours, or none at all. With work it's pretty impossible to just read straight through a book. Unless it's a smaller book, I can get through those pretty quickly. I am a fast reader though. There are some books I finished in the matter of hours. Those happened on my days off.
I don't know that I would do this again. The list I had opened up a lot of new authors that will keep me busy for a while. Also, now I just pick a book or two every month from the best sellers list and add it to my "to be read" list. Some of them I already have read. I have found some pretty amazing books out there that are not on my list. I made a list of them (Books not on top 50 post), I have starred the ones that are my favorites so far.

The Marriage Plot- Jeffrey Eugenides
Time to read: 1 day
This wasn't really that quick of a read. It was actually a little bit of a tough read. There is a lot of literature in this book! It jumps from character and can become confusing if you are not paying attention. It is basically about two characters, Madeline and Mitchell. It starts off in the present and then will go back in time A LOT. This is how the author tells the story.
It starts off with Madeline and the day of her graduation, then it goes back from there. It enter-twines her story with Mitchell, who is one of her best friends. He, of course, is in love with her. She doesn't see him that way and ends up sending each of their lives down a different path. It's after the first recession and job outlook is horrible (Sound familiar?!) and they don't know what to do. There is a ton of literature throughout this book. Madeline is an English major and loves old literature so it's referred too a lot. She ends up in love with a manic-depressed college classmate and her story becomes one crazy roller coaster.
Mitchell becomes obsessed with religion and all the different religions and their meanings to all the different types of people. So after college he goes to Europe and then India traveling and learning about all different types of religion. So there is A LOT of references to religions and their backgrounds.
In the end, the story has a pretty crappy ending. I do have to say I was hooked into the plot wondering if Madeline and Mitchell would end up together. Instead, it became a bit hard to get through with all the literature and religious references. Besides that the story was a bit troublesome as well. All in all, it was an okay read. I don't think I would be reading any more by this author. I think I really like this authors style.

The Best of Me- Nicholas Sparks
Time to read- 2 days
Well.. due to the super reading I was doing, I definitely had to take a break. I am now back to my habbit! I have read a few more books off my list. The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks was the first off my list.
First, I do have to say I usually try to stray from his books because they are always so sad! Don't get me wrong, they are very good but always so sad. A lot of the time heartbreaking! This book was no exception!
I do enjoy his books but I have to be in a mood..When a friend suggests a book by him, I always say, "Who is going to die?" I always start off his books knowing some kind of death is certain. I did get through the book rather quickly! It only took me two days. I could have finished a lot quicker if I did not have life get in the way- haha!
Anyways, I have mixed feelings about this book. He's had better. It starts off with a teen couple who has to whether being from different classes. He was from the wrong side of the "tracks". He also had a troubled up-bringing. He ends up living with a guy who is seen as "crazy" by the town. Anyways, there's a fork in the road when she has to decide to give up college to be with him or give him up. He ends it for her because he doesn't want to take that away from her. It kind of reminded me a lot of the Notebook type of story. Being split apart and then re-uniting later. Although, in this book it has a much different ending. Anyways, the guy who takes him in, Tuck, ends up dying. He has specific instructions about how they are to arrange things with his death. They both come back to town and end up realizing they still love each other. She has a husband and children though and in the end decides her responsibilites are what matters. She goes home to find out her son and husband have been in a car accident. I then realize what is going to happen. She ends up losing dawson (first love) and he ends up saving her sons life by being a heart donor.
It's a good book but it just seemed a little predictable and I feel like I've read the story before somewhere else. It's a good read just not great... Like I said, mixed feelings!

What the Night Knows- Dean Koontz
Time to read: 3 weeks
When I first started this book, I had no idea it would take this long or what I was in for. I didn't really think I could get through it. I'm not really into paranormal-evil spirit type stuff. This book has all that and is pretty graphic when talking about the murders and intent of the
"evil" spirit.
So if it wasn't for my AMAZING husband, I would have failed my challenge! This is the second time he has come to my rescue. He decided we should read it together. So that's what we have been doing. We have been reading together on certain nights (when we have free time together) out loud. This helped me get through this story.
Now, to talk about how I liked this book... I REALLY disliked it! Not only was it not my taste but the descriptions of the "evil" spirits way to kill people was really groutesque. Another thing I really disliked about this book was the authors use of big words. I mean some words WE had no idea what he meant, so had to look them up. My husband is SUPER smart so if it stumps him, it's pretty out there.
Now with the use of the big words, I mean this story had 3 kids in the book.. All 14 and under and they were the ones using these big words. I mean really, an 8 year old and 11 year old will not know these words, and then use them correctly!! He makes it conflicting because these kids are supposed to be really intelligent but then at the same time, he makes the 11 year old really stupid and dense when it comes to the plot. I don't know... It just didn't flow character wise. The 14 year old boy was another matter. Just about every sentence he used "dumbass" "stupid" "freakin" and any other way he could use "ass." I mean he just sounded pretty lame. It was very annoying!
So I really didn't like this book! Or... It's just not my cup of tea!

V is for Vengeance- Sue Grafton
Time to read: 4 1/2 hours
I have to say, I'm almost to the end of this challenge, which has made me antsy. I can't wait to be finished so I can read the hundreds of books on my to be read list! Books I want to read and not HAVE to read. So I was pleasantly surprised when I turned out to like this book.
It was definitely a very fast read. I'm pretty sure I read most of this during the car rides to and from Columbus and our parents house this weekend. The book is based on a series about a Private Investigator and all her cases. Then it will switch to a different character every so many chapters and back the the PI. Although, there's a web of characters and they all have different stories and then in the end they all end up being a part of the big case in the end. It's actually pretty cool the way they all end up coming together. It makes for a very interesting read and the fun of trying to figure out the mystery of it all.
So if you are looking for a good mystery, this is one series to read. I will not be reading the rest in the series any time soon just because I have SO many other books I can't wait to read right now. But in the future, I will be adding these to my to be read list.

Inheritance- Christopher Paolini
Time to read: 6 days
I wasn't expecting this book to be so large! I really had a hard time getting into the story. I think mostly it's because I was reading a book that was 4th in the series without reading any of the others. I had seen the Eragon movie but you know how that goes.. the movies are never true to the books.
So I was thrown into this story not knowing who all the characters where and what they meant. So it was pretty hard to get into. I think it took half way through the book to finally get into the story. I do have to say it snuck up on me and I became pretty interested in the actual plot of the book. It took a while to stop taking me back into all the past books but when the book finally started with it's own plot, it was pretty good. I do have to say the end wasn't as predictable as I thought it was going to be, which is good. I will not be reading any other of the books in the series. Although, I enjoyed a small portion of this book, I just didn't really care for the writing style from the author. I'm pretty sure I would have a hard time getting into all the other books as well.

The Art of Racing in the Rain- Garth Stein
Time to read: 2 days
I would have to say this book was definitely interesting. A book about the point of view of a dog? I was skeptical as well. I wasn't sure how I was going to like this book or what exactly it would be about. I'm surprised to say there was an actual plot about the dog and his family.
Most of this book is about him telling his life from the beginning to the present. He's about to die and starts to remember about the beginning of his life and then tells the story about how his owner and the family that comes later. I will say a lot of this book is sad quite a lot. Pretty much a struggle for this family through the book.
I'm still unsure how I really feel about this book. It was interesting and boring at some parts. This particular dog was obsessed with race car racing and there was a lot of info about different racers and races, which became boring at some parts. It did make me wonder though, if animals can really understand everything and just aren't able to talk.. They say if walls could talk, but what about if animals could talk? LOL.

Death Comes to Pemberley- P.D. James
Time to read: 4 days
I haven't really read any of the descriptions for the books on my list. So when I borrowed this book from the library, I was kind of excited that it took place as a sequel to Pride & Prejudice. I LOVE Pride and Prejudice. Then I read the book and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed!
This book takes place 5 years after Pride & Prejudice. So the beginning was nice because it had a re-cap of the weddings and the kids they all had and where everyone was in life now. Then it quickly changed into the plot of the book. This book was a murder mystery that took place at Pemberley. This is the home of Elizabeth and Darcy. It quickly became pretty boring. Even though, I was a surprised with the ending, I just found myself wishing it was over. I was kind of confused with some aspects and I feel the author added too many different stories and plot points that really had no business. I get that the author was trying to keep the ending a surprise and who really did the killing, it was a little over-kill on all the "evidence." Then the ending wrapped up really quickly that made it pretty cliche. I didn't care for this book!

Zero Day- David Baldacci
Time to read: 2 days
This was an okay book. It was further down the list on my excitement to read it but I got through the book pretty fast.
It's another murder mystery, which I have found as a theme. A lot of the books on this list are murder mysteries. Should we be worried that this is what people prefer to read? Ha ha, just kidding.
Anyways, this book is about an army personal being brought in to figure out who and why this family was murdered. It's a town in the middle of nowhere and what they end up finding out is that they are in the middle of a terrorist attack on the United States. I do have to say, I give props to the author for not making the "love interest" and the investigator, have that cliche ending. So you do get some surprises out of the book. Sometimes I get sick of the same endings for every love story. No offense, but love is not that easy and not everyone finds that one person, the same way, every time.
So the book was just an okay. It was interesting enough to get me through it. Mostly, because I always have to know the answer to questions. Although, this book wasn't great to the point I couldn't put it down.

The Inn at Rose Harbor- Debbie Macomber
Time to read: 1 day
I was surprised at how much I disliked this book. It had great reviews and I had to wait a long time to get it from the library because I was like number 40-something to request it on hold.
This book starts off with the tale of the lady who ends up buying this B&B and her story. She then has two different people stay at the inn at the same time. They come to town with "heavy burdens" because she can tell. (Eye Roll #1) It will alternate chapters between each of the three main characters, telling their stories and what happens to them. There is a girl, Abby, who was in a car accident when she was younger and killed her best friend (accident but she was driving). A guy, Josh, who was kicked out by his step-father a few months before graduation. They both don't want to come back but they girl's brother is getting married and the guy's step-father is dying. The girl runs into an old friend and it was just like old times, with 15 years spreading apart the last time they have seen each other (eye roll #2) To me, this would be at least a little bit awkward. Anyways, there's a lot of things that happen during her story that had me rolling my eyes.. Seriously, it was so cheesy it was lame. The same thing happens in the guys story because he has his next door neighbor helping him and they fall deeply in love after 3 days... (eye roll #163) There's a lot of people talking to them from the dead and so on..
I just was so surprised it was so lame. I was thinking I would like this book... but not the case. I don't know, maybe I'm just tainted by "real life" and how life does not tie up into a happily ever after in 3 days. I don't care who you are, life is not easy. Oh, I think by the end of the book I had about 500+ eye rolls...

The Drop- Michael Connelly
Days to read: 6 hours
Today was a lazy,rainy day. I finished up another book I was on (non-challenge) and then started the Drop around 2pm. I have to say, I was pretty intrigued from the start. This about a detective who is in a DROP program, which they re-visit cold cases. It starts off with him wanting a case and ends up getting two in one day. One is very politically involved and current and the other is a cold case from 22 years ago. He tries to work both cases at the same time and does it in a way that keeps you hooked. It doesn't get confusing at all and you get caught up trying to figure out both cases! You also get some of the real life scenarios with his daughter and a love interest. It's not a book that's completely all about the cases, but i say this very lightly, it is the premise of the book after all. I really enjoyed this book. It's not the best murder mystery type book out there but it definitely was a good read. I like that I didn't get bored, like some books will do. You also get a taste of how he is betrayed by his partner and then how they come back from this situation. Also, when he starts to feel he is out of the game and he should hand in his badge to retire, he realizes what his job is really about and wants to be in for as long as he can.
Today was a lazy,rainy day. I finished up another book I was on (non-challenge) and then started the Drop around 2pm. I have to say, I was pretty intrigued from the start. This about a detective who is in a DROP program, which they re-visit cold cases. It starts off with him wanting a case and ends up getting two in one day. One is very politically involved and current and the other is a cold case from 22 years ago. He tries to work both cases at the same time and does it in a way that keeps you hooked. It doesn't get confusing at all and you get caught up trying to figure out both cases! You also get some of the real life scenarios with his daughter and a love interest. It's not a book that's completely all about the cases, but i say this very lightly, it is the premise of the book after all. I really enjoyed this book. It's not the best murder mystery type book out there but it definitely was a good read. I like that I didn't get bored, like some books will do. You also get a taste of how he is betrayed by his partner and then how they come back from this situation. Also, when he starts to feel he is out of the game and he should hand in his badge to retire, he realizes what his job is really about and wants to be in for as long as he can.

The Tiger's Wife- Tea Obreht

Hmm... I'm not quite sure what to say. This book was weirdly interesting? I have to say, I had a hard time following. I was even more shocked to learn the author of this book is younger than I am!
Anyways, this book is about a girl who is telling stories about her grandfather's life and the stories he's told her. The stories he is tells her, end up coming to life in her actual life. Her grandfather dies and she is on a mission to give free medicine to orphaned children. Her grandmother is convinced that she knew of his disease, which she did, and is mad at her for not telling her. There are little instances during her story that she is reminded of her grandfather and then will tell one of his stories. That's good and all but then in his story, she would go on about a particular person in his story and tell their story. It got a little hard to follow at that point. I don't know why but I felt some of the chapthers in this book were a little confusing. I'm still not quite sure how it ended. I was just lost, I guess. I really didn't care for this book.

Sarah's Key- Tatiana de Rosnay
Time to read: 4 HOURS
That's right!! It took me 4 hours to get through this book. I know that a lot of my other books were the same but because of work, i had to span it over two days. This book is fantastic! I loved it and it's a book that is not a real happy ending but it's full of emotion and makes you think about life and decisions.
This book flips back and forth (every other chapter) between a little girl during in Paris, 1942 and a journalist in present day. The girl is a Jew and going through the time when Hitler was in charge but his influence in France. It goes back and forth and once you get the little girls tragic story, it stops and it's all about the present day journalist. She ends up on a road to discovery about her family and herself. It's such an sad story but amazing at the same time.

Locked on - Tom Clancy

This book was my nemesis. It was seriously the book I did not want to read at all. It just did not interest me at all from the description. It was also a pretty big book. Although, it was a faster read than Stephen Kings 11/22/63, which was about equal in length.
I do have to say, I did not really care for this book. It just didn't interest me and I forced myself through it because I just wanted to be finished with it. He has some interesting plot twists and every few chapters has another characters point of view. I figured out the ending pretty quickly. There are a lot of times it was just plain boring and just hard to get through. There's A LOT of military terms and references. I wouldn't really recommend this book. Sometimes they say not to judge a book by it's cover, in this case, do it.

August SUMMER challenge!
I recently found the awesome website of GoodReads! Actually, by recent, I mean today. Ha ha. Anyways, I think it's a great thing for readers! I look forward to finding so many more books to read and sharing what I have read. Anyways, there's SO many "book clubs" and that's awesome.
They have so many different challenges as well. I decided to add one to the month of August. I don't think this is too much to take on with my current challange, since I'm pretty much close to finishing that. I only have to read 3 books because I've read 3 of them this month already. We just fill out the word SUMMER with book titles that start with the letter..

The Next Always- Nora Roberts
Time to read: 3 days
Oh, Nora Roberts... I read her books like crazy throughout high school and a little after. Then I kind of got sick of the repetitiveness... I haven't read a Nora Roberts romance novel in a long time, at least 4 years or so. I do have to say, I missed her. ha ha. I know all of her books start and end the same way. A pair, who are attracted to each other and can't figure out why, fall in love but pretend they aren't, and then have some major event come between them where they "break up" and then get back together and have this great reunion. I have to say, that sounds kind of negative. Even though, I know how it works, I just can't help loving them. You just get so caught up in the stories by situation. I think that's how she gets you. As always, her books are a trilogy or quartet.. You usually can figure out who is going to get paired up by the first book. I do love the bridal quartet. I just love the friendships and how strong they are and how they are always there for each other. This book seems to be going along the same way and I know that once I have some time and finish this challenge, I'm going to finish the trilogy. Although, I get sick of the formula, I love NR books... Weird but true, such as I am.

Wife by Wednesday- Catherine Bybee

This was actually better than I thought it was going to be. It's a cute romance story. It's about a man who has to have a wife ASAP to meet the demands of his dying father's will. Haven't you read a few books where this is the case? If not, I must read too much. haha. So he reaches out to a company that does match-making and he wants to give 10 million for a one year contract. She really needs the money to get her business really take off. Instead of having another girl, he wants her to do it. No sharing of a bed, no love and just strictly a business proposition. Yeah, fat chance. That never works out! Someone always ends up falling in love. Well, of course, the man who could never be caught, has fallen in love with her. She with him and so the story goes. It is definitely a sweet, quick read. Even though, it's quite similar to a lot of other books I've read, I still enjoyed it.

The Christmas Wedding- James Patterson

When I checked this book out from the library, the librarian couldn't stop talking about how much she loved this book. I have to say, I had to agree for the most part. It's a quick, fast read and sometimes can be a bit cheesy. It was really heart-warming and a great Christmas feeling story. It's about a women who her husband has passed and children are all out of the house and she keeps in touch through video chats. She decides to tell them all they have to come home for Christmas because she's getting married on Christmas day and tells them it's one of three men. She doesn't even tell the men which one it is, so throughout the story you have to kind of try and figure out like the rest of them which one it will be. This was a great story and very sweet but it wasn't by far one of his best books. I definitely liked some of his other books on my list better.

Sing You Home- Jodi Picoult

The story of the book was pretty sad to start. It's about how this married couple has been struggling for children and seven months into her last pregnancy she loses the baby. It ends up breaking her marriage apart and she ends up finding a friend, who she then falls in love with and they try to start a family. They are fighting with for the rights of the embryos left from her marriage and so on. This book was written by the author to support gay rights and personal property. I'm not really going to state what I thought or how I felt or whether or not I liked this book. I'm not going to say whether I do/don't support gay rights. It's a personal opinion and belief and I have the right to feel the way I do. I just feel like anyone can do whatever they want and that's it. None of my business. It's also none of your business on how I feel about the issue. I just don't want to get into all the politics when this was not the point of this challenge. Good Day :)
