I have received this arc from a First Reads, good reads giveaway. I was excited to see what this book had to offer. I'm a late fan of the series. I just read the Hobbit a year ago and really enjoyed it. When I got this book, I read it right away. It's such a fast read that I got through it in less than 2 hours. I was a bit disappointed with the depth of his lessons. I was sure he would have found more wisdom and lessons from the book than I would have. I pretty much knew everything he was talking about. I felt that some of the time he was redundant on some things. So I felt like this book really did nothing for me. This is the type of book for someone that doesn't really understand the series. I will say it was nice that he added some connections to all the books. Overall, I have it a three because it's nice that someone took the time to get the wisdom from the books for those who didn't/don't understand. I didn't benefit but maybe someone else will. I also felt that I could have written this book and I am not a hardcore fan. Someone who has studied and really gotten into this series, I expected a lot more to this book |
